Denmark Lights: World's 2nd Oldest Amusement Park Lits Up

The World's second oldest amusement park was lit up to celebrate its 175th anniversary.

The Tivoli garden in Copenhagen is marking the special birthday with a gigantic winter lights festival destined to brighten up the winter gloom.

Among the highlights of the festival are a colossal Greenland igloo, an icy forest and an octagonal ice-skating pavilion with 200,000 lights.

Lights and colours are particularly important for the people of Copenhagen in the long winter months when daylight hours start after 8 a.m. And darkness falls before 5 p.m.

Tivoli has traditionally used old yellow-toned light bulbs in its displays.
