Del Potro Powers Into US Open Semis

Argentine Juan Martin Del Potro ended John Isner's dreams of grand slam glory in his homeland, with a 6-7, 6-3, 7-6, 6-2 quarterfinal win at flushing meadows.

Del Potro made it to the quarterfinals without dropping a set, but his impressive run came to an abrupt end when Isner took the first set in hot conditions in New York.

The Argentine fought back to comfortably take the second and another tiebreaker in the third.

The players left the court for a heat break before coming back out for the fourth set when Del Potro put his foot down, racing out to two breaks.

Isner's typically strong serve did not let him down, throwing down 26 aces, but it wasn't enough to stop Del Potro storm into the final four.
