CJP Hears Cases At SC's Lahore Registry
Chief Justice Pakistan Saqib Nisar heard various cases today related to civil and medical services at the Lahore Supreme Court Registry.
In the case of death of a female doctor due to a doctor's alleged negligence at the Surgimed Hospital, the Cheif Justice today ordered a high level committee be made, led by provincial Health Minister Dr Yasmeen Rashid and the health care commission.
The committee is to probe the death and provide its inquiry report to the supreme in seven to ten days.
The Supreme Court today had summoned the secretary health, secretary healthcare commission, Surgimed Hospital CEO and the doctors involved in the operation.
The women's father, who had filed the petition against the doctors, was also present in court.
He told the court that the doctors carried out an unnecessary operation on his daughter and kept her in the operation theater for 20 hours.
A report on the implementation of 70 Suo Moto Supreme Court notices was presented at the court by Addition Advocate General Imtiaz Ahmed Kaifi.
He told the court that the petitioners had expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Cheif Justice for hearing their plea and fighting for their rights.
The Advocate General also told the court that matter relating to the Gujranwala Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education daily wages employees, who had been protesting, has been resolved as 170 of them have been regularized. The CJP has disposed off the case.
