Those Opposing Dams Are Working On Someone Else Agenda: CJP

Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar has said those opposing construction of dams in Pakistan are working for someone else's agenda. He said the dams will be constructed without allowing the negative propaganda to become hurdle in this cause.

Hearing the case regarding construction of Dhodcha Dam in Punjab, Chief Justice observed that the construction of dams is a matter of basic fundamental rights and it should not be politicized.

Referring to a recent statement by senior PPP politician criticizing supreme court's initiative, Chief Justice said undue criticism will not be tolerated in this regard.

The Supreme Court directed Bharia Town and Defence Housing Authority to give proposals to the Punjab government on building Dhodcha Dam.

The bench also directed the Punjab government to file reply on the proposals given by DHA and Bharia Town.

Secretary irrigation informed the bench that the Punjab government has allocated 2.85 billion rupees for the Dhodcha Dam.

The bench adjourned the hearing for one week.
