Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani

Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has strongly condemned the US drone attack in Bannu terming it as intolerable.

Speaking in the national assembly he said Pakistan will not allow anyone to violate its territory. He said these attacks are unproductive and are only creating more difficulties in combating terrorism. The Prime Minister reminded that the parliament has already adopted a unanimous resolution on national security and the government will take measures for its implementation. He made it clear that there is no silent understanding or arrangement with the United States allowing the US forces to operate in Pakistan territory. The Prime Minister hoped the attacks would be ceased as the new administration of president-elects Barack Obama takes charge. He said Pakistan is a responsible nuclear state and many countries including NATO states support our point of view on U.S attacks inside Pakistan and agree that the attacks should be stopped, as they are proving counter productive.
Earlier, minister for inter-provincial coordination Mian Raza Rabbani condemned the air attack by NATO forces in Bannu. Leader of the opposition, Ch. Nisar Ali Khan also expressed concern over repeated drones attacks on Pakistan's territory.
