PM Chairs Meeting On Sugar, Wheat Supply

Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed the Authorities to ensure Supply of Wheat and Sugar and also ensure reasonable prices of the commodities across the country.

Chairing a meeting in Islamabad, the Prime Minister also directed to keep him updated about the progress on Wheat Import.

Earlier, PM Imran Khan was briefed on import of Wheat by the private and government sectors. He was told that four hundred thousand metric ton Wheat was imported by the private sector and ten hundred thousand ton Wheat would arrive in the country next month.

Chairman Trading Corporation of Pakistan apprised that 1.5 million metric ton of Wheat is being imported by the government and tender of three hundred thirty thousand metric ton Wheat has already been issued.

On Sugar Supply, the meeting was briefed that Sugar is also being imported in light of government decision to maintain gap between demand and supply۔

Chief Secretary Punjab said, the Sugar Mills have been directed to start crushing season from 15th of November and in case of delay they would have to pay five million in fine per day.
