India: Farmers Protests

The ninth round of talks between the Indian government and protesting farmers again ended in a deadlock.

On the other hand, the protesting farmers laying siege to the Indian capital have threatened to march inside New Delhi on 26th January when India celebrates its Republic Day.

The Indian Supreme Court has ordered an indefinite stay on implementing the new laws and appointed a four member panel to hear farmers' objections.

The farmers, however, have rejected the panel's composition.

India saw the uprising by the farmers against the controversial farm laws which Indian farmers say will only benefit Modi's billionaire corporate friends.
