Sindh Announces Covid Lockdown : Karachi To Be The Focus As Infections Continue To Rise
The government of Sindh has decided to enforce lockdown from tomorrow till eighth of August to prevent the spread of Corona virus cases in the Province including Karachi.
The decision was taken in a meeting of Corona Task Force chaired by Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah in Karachi.
The meeting decided to close down all government offices from next week and also halt salaries of employees failing to receive corona vaccine jabs.
All inter-city transport and markets will also remain closed. The government officials will also check the corona vaccination certificates of the commuters.
Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister Sindh said, lockdown down decision has been backed by all provincial lawmakers, businessmen and doctors.
The meeting was apprised that the positivity rate in Sindh has climbed to 13.7 percent, 45 people have lost the battle against Covid and over eleven hundred people are in critical condition.
The participants were briefed that 469 people have lost their lives in the past 29 days due to the deadly pandemic. The increased number of corona virus cases has brought under pressure the entire health system of the province.
