PSX At Close: Volatile Session Ends Flat

Volatility marred the Pakistan Stock Exchange today. Indices swayed both ways in search of a direction until finally settling flat. According to analysts the further depreciation of rupee against the us dollar dented investors confidence.

The benchmark KSE 100 index lost 589.88 points recording intraday low of 42,273.27. Recovering all losses, the index jumped to day’s high of 43,032.50 gaining 169.35 points. It settled flat by positive 35.29 points at 42,898.44.

The KMI 30 Index gained 330.07 points closing at 69,336.75. While the KSE all share index fell short by 16.18 points ending at 29,187.05.

Overall market volumes fell from 338.42 million shares in last session to 284.24 million shares.

Sectors pulling the benchmark KSE 100 index higher included cement sector 39.24 points, chemical sector 19.77 points and pharmaceutical sector 17.10 points.
