Afghanistan Earthquake : 6.1-Magnitude Quake Kills 1000, Injures 1,500

The death toll from deadly Earthquake in Afghanistan has crossed 1000, while 1,500 others are injured.

According to the US Geological Survey the Earthquake - which hit during the early hours as many people were asleep - was a magnitude 6.1 quake at a depth of some 51km,

Taliban Leader Hibatullah Akhundzada said hundreds of houses were destroyed and the death toll is likely to rise.

Most of the casualties are reported in the Gayan and Barmal Districts in Paktika.

Accordign local media reports, a whole Village in Gayan has been destroyed.

It is the deadliest Earthquake to strike Afghanistan in two decades.
