Breakthrough With IMF: Finance Minister Says Headway Made With IMF
Finance Minister Miftah Ismail has announced that Pakistan has reached a breakthrough with International Monetary Fund regarding restoration of IMF program.
Addressing a news conference in Islamabad, the finance minister said China will likely transfer 2.3 billion dollars by tomorrow.
He said no additional tax has been imposed in the current budget as government focused on people-friendly economic reforms.
He further said subsidy is being provided to 80 million people,, including availability of subsidised items to deserving people through mobile utility units.
Miftah, however, said the present government is taxing sectors where there is a need, including sugar mills as the main focus remains on saving Pakistan from default.
The Finance Minister said country's economic situation will improve in the next 2 to 3 months.
