Emergency Imposed In Flood-Hit Areas : PM Directs Finance Ministry To Release Rs. 5B To NDMA

Federal government has imposed emergency in rain and flood affected areas under the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Chairing a high level meeting to review situation in flood hit areas, the Prime Minister directed the Finance Ministry to immediately release five billion rupees to National Disaster Management Authority.

The Prime Minister constituted a high-level committee of National and Provincial Disaster Management Authorities to carry out relief work effectively.

Shehbaz Sharif said rescue, relief and rehabilitation of flood victims is a National duty.

The Prime Minister said we all can tackle this challenge together with unity.

He said there is need to formulate a medium-term to long-term strategy in view of climate change.

The Prime Minister was briefed in detail about the ongoing rescue and relief operations in flood hit areas.
