Berlin Film Festival: Filmmakers Show Ukraine Solidarity On The Red Carpet
The Berlin Film Festival marked the first anniversary of the war in Ukraine with a show of solidarity on its red carpet.
Filmmakers, actors and representatives of the Berlinale were joined by the Ukrainian ambassador to Germany and the German culture secretary on the red carpet outside the Berlinale Palast.
Armed with placards reading "Stand With Ukraine", the filmmaking community rallied in support of Ukrainians.
Now in its 73rd year, the Berlinale owes its reputation as the most political of the main film festivals to its origins as a divided city on the front lines of the cold war between the Soviet Union and the West.
The organisers have focused this year's edition on Ukraine and pro-democracy protests in Iran.
