Germany Oktoberfest: Traditional Costumes Delight At Oktoberfest Parade
Hundreds of proud Bavarians wore their finest traditional clothes for the annual Oktoberfest traditional costume parade in Munich.
The parade is a chance for the locals to show off their best Bavarian costumes.
Oktoberfest has its origins in a horse race that took place in 1810 to celebrate the wedding of Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen.
The parade first took place in 1835 to honour the 25th wedding anniversary of the couple.
The parade consists of some 9,500 participants who follow the route from the max ii monument, through Munich's town center to the Oktoberfest location, the Wiesn.
