Targeting Muslims: BJP Bans Halal Products In Utter Pradesh
The Uttar Pradesh Government led by extremist Bhartia Janta Party has banned production storage, distribution, and sale of halal food in the state.
The Uttar Pradesh is the most populous state in India and Muslims constitute second biggest community in the state.
An official order said, strict legal measures will be implemented against any individual or firm engaged in halal-certified foods and medicines.
The order said, halal certification creates confusion regarding the quality of food items.
It added, the right to decide the quality of food items lies only with the authorities and institutions who check the relevant standards.
The move comes after a police case was filed against a company and a few other organisations accusing them OG exploiting people's religious sentiments to boost sales.
