Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has ordered upgradation of police stations in Islamabad to turn them into smart models.
Chairing a review meeting on the initiative, he said that traditional police stations have become a symbol of fear and outdated practices.
He assured that government will provide all possible resources for this transformation which will occur under the phased programme.
The Minister also emphasized that Islamabad police recruitment will be strictly on merit, with a focus on appointing well-mannered and educated officers.
He directed to implement the plan soon, with a cost-effective design for the renovation of police stations.
