Remembering Comedy King Lehri: Death Anniversary Of Iconic Entertainer Being Observed
Death anniversary of versatile actor Safirullah Siddiqui, popularly known as Lehri is being observed today.
Lehri was born on 2nd January 1929, he was known as the comedy king in the Pakistan Film Industry.
Out of the 225 films that Lehri acted during his career‚ his comic roles in “Mera Ghar Meri Jannat”‚ “Tasvir”‚ “Tum Salamat Raho”‚ “Ishara”, “Nai Laila Naya Majnon”‚ “Tum Milay Pyaar Mila”, “Bahadur”, “Saiqa”‚ “Naukar” and “Zameer” won him outstanding appreciation and fame.
Lehri's first film, Anokhi, was released in 1956, and his last production was Dhanak in 1986.
He won the Nigar Award 12 times for various films between 1964 and 1986.
He died on 13 September 2012 in Karachi, at the age of 83.
