Upgrading Railways: Aleem Khan Proposes Investment From Russia, China In Railways

Federal Minister For Communications Aleem Khan has chaired a meeting to review the problems marring Karachi-Peshawar Railway Track and discussed ways to make railway a profitable organisation.

Heading the Meeting Of The Focal Group, Aleem Khan proposed opening a fast track railway cargo service from Karachi Port to Peshawar which will generate revenue for the railways.

The Federal Minister also preferred private sector's investment instead of loan to streamline operations in railways.

He said Russia and China can be partners in helping improve railway infrastructure in the country and called for long term solutions.

Aleem Khan said in order to fully benefit from the railways, tracks need to be made secure and stronger for faster routes with the potential to connect Pakistan with Central Asia, Iran and China.
