At least 77 people have been killed and over 100 injured in Israeli strikes on eastern Lebanon, making it the deadliest day for the region since the escalation between Israel and Hezbollah.

UN’s envoy for the middle east peace process said in a statement that he was appalled by Israel’s attack on residential building in Beit Lahiya that killed at least 93 people, including 25 children.

Lebanese state media said that Israeli tanks entered the outskirts of the village of Khiam, their deepest incursion yet into South Lebanon.

Hezbollah said it destroyed two tanks using guided missiles and targeted Israeli troops South and Southwest of Khiam with rockets and artillery.

In Lebanon, at least 2,710 people, including at least 127 children, have been killed and 12,592 wounded in Israeli attacks.
