Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal has said Pakistan is a resourcefully rich country and its resources should be used honestly and in the right direction.

Speaking at the seventh agriculture census ceremony, Ahsan Iqbal said that with the start of the new year, the journey of Pakistan’s development has also started.

The minister said through Uraan Programme, Pakistan will have to regain its lost position on the international stage, and for that we must work diligently to eradicate poverty and hunger from the country.

He further said that one has to work beyond personal interest for the country’s development.

Ahsan Iqbal said increasing population is a serious problem, and in future, food security will have to be paid attention to.

The Minister also stressed on promoting livestock and fishery sectors.

He further said that agriculture is the backbone of the economy, therefore farmers should be given facilities for the sector’s development.
