Pakistan Boosts Telecom And IT Sector: Telecom Revenue Hits 955 Billion Rupees

The Government launched the 2africa Cable Project due to challenges in internet provision.

This project spans 45,000 kilometers of undersea cables, connecting 46 landing stations across 33 countries.

The landing point for the 2africa Cable Project in Pakistan will be Hawks Bay, Kemari Town, Karachi, with Transworld Associates as the local operator.

The Telecom revenue saw a 17% increase from fiscal year 2022 to 2023. For the fiscal year 2023-2024, Pakistan’s Telecom Revenue reached 955 billion rupees.

The Telecom Sector's total contribution to Pakistan’s economy is projected to reach 335 billion rupees in 2024.

The country improved its rank from 79th to 40th in the Global Cybersecurity Index 2024. Pakistan also experienced a 14% increase in the ITU ICT development index for 2024. The number of mobile phone users in Pakistan grew by 29%, boosting digital connectivity.

Pakistan has joined the ranks of 37 countries that have established a Webtrust-Audited National Public Infrastructure.
